How to connect to Termux from Ubuntu desktop

In this example, we will setup a SSH server on Termux (for Android) and connect to the server from Ubuntu desktop. However, a similar procedure should work with any SSH server.

  1. Generate your ssh key pair on your desktop

    $ ssh-keygen

  2. Check your desktop IP address (say, 192.168.0.100)

  3. Run ssh server on your desktop

  4. Copy the file to Termux over SCP

$ scp [email protected]:~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

Vim Crash Course

NOTE: Specific examples given for options, flags, commands variations, etc., are not comprehensive.

NORMAL MODE

Vim has 2 main "modes", that chance the behavior of all your keys. The default mode of Vim is Normal Mode and is mostly used for moving the cursor and navigating the current file.

Some important (or longer) commands begin with ":" and you will see the text you enter next at the bottom left of the screen.

:q[uit] - quit (the current window of) Vim. ("Window" here is internal to Vim, not if you have multiple OS-level windows of Vim open at once.)
:q! - force quit (if the current buffer has been changed since the last save)
:e[dit] {filename} - read file {filename} into a new buffer.

We can make this file beautiful and searchable if this error is corrected: It looks like row 7 should actually have 28 columns, instead of 24 in line 6.

Installation of Arch Linux on a USB stick with UEFI and legacy BIOS Support

Our goal here is to have one USB stick to rule them all. Objectives:

  • We want a full system - not a live CD
  • We want to boot this system on a Macbook Pro (requires UEFI)
  • We want to boot this system on a Acer C720 Chromebook (requires Legacy BIOS support)
  • We want the system "functional"

The last bullet is subject to interpretation, but I'm defining functional as:

  • X Windows works (with LXDE)
