Lets assume we're gonna cook for 3 people.
- 500 to 600 grams of chicken which is mediumly cut
- India gate basmati rice
- 250 ml of Curd(Should be thick so go for milky mist cup or some other brand)
- Garam masala
- Biriyani masala
- Red chilli powder
- Turmeric powder
- Ginger Garlic paste
- Cloves
- Cinnamon
- Bay leaves
- Cardamom
- Star Anise
- 1 lemon
- 2 medium sized Onions
- 2 medium sized Tomatoes
- 4 green chillies
- 8 - 10 Mint leaf stems
- 10 - 12 corriander leaf stems
- Wash chicken
- Add 1 tbsp garam masala
- Add 1 tbsp or less red chilli powder
- Add 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- Squeese one lemon
- Add 1 tbsp oil
- Mix it well
- Keep it in fridge if you have one otherwise skip
- Wait for 30 to 45 minutes
- Take 2 glasses of basmati rice(To eat sufficiently it can be lesser)
- Wash the rice
- Soak it in the water for only 30 minutes (I usually do this before i start cooking)
- Wash green chillies, tomatoes, corriander and mint leaves
- Take two onions and cut into very thin slices
- Take two tomatoes and cut into very thin slices
- Pluck the leaves from corriander stems
- Take the mint leaves and cut the root of the stems little and then chop it into tiny pieces
Important: Don't take your eye off from the cooker to ensure its not over heated.
- Keep cooker on your stove with medium heat or little higher
- Pour 3 tbsp of oil
- Add onions
- Add 1/2 a tbsp of red chilli powder
- Add one tbsp of salt
- Fry it close to 15 minutes with medium heat(Onions will shrink to half of its original size)
- Add 1/2 a tbsp of ginger garlic paste
- Fry it until you don't get the smell of ginger garlic
- Add tomatoes
- Fry it until it becomes like a paste(Keep in mind tomatoes should not be raw)
- Add 2 tbsp of biriyani masala
- Add corriander leaves
- Add mint leaves
- Add 250 ml of curd
- Fry it for a minute
- Add the marinated chicken now
- Keep the stove at medium heat(If electric stove put it in curry mode at 600 or so)
- Add a glass of water
- Now boil it for 7 minutes(To ensure chicken cooked well with masala)
- Now separate water from soaked rice and add it
- Add one and half glass of water
- Keep the temperature little higher than medium
- Close the lid and wait for one whistle
- After the whistle, switch of the stove wait for 10 minutes
