Namaste Industry Leader,
You have been invited to be a Mentor for this “Job Challenge” I have started for my students. As you know, I have started teaching programming to college students for free from past one year. We have around 20K students learning through variety of social media platforms. This challenge is for them, open for everyone.
Participants need to complete the following minimum tasks for the challenge:
- 5 projects
- 3 blogs
- 2 reviews on their projects and blogs.
The first five completing the challenge would get a shout-out for job/internship by mentors and community leaders. More details around projects are coming up on the website soon.
Hey! While you're reading this, if there are any questions or suggestions which come to your mind please feel free to put it in the comments of this gist. This will only help to enrich this document and the challenge.
There’s no minimum requirement on time. Even one-hour per week would work. We'll be sending you more details on how to best use your time soon.
To accept the invitation, please complete the sign-up process by following some simple steps: It is a developer thing, so we'll be using Git mostly. Since you're the early one, if you agree to be a mentor please mention all your details as follows in the comment to this gist.
- Name
- Organization
- A short bio
- Put your social media handles. And which platform you would prefer to be contacted on.
- An 400x400px image URL
Note: You will be featured on our website as mentors.
Another note: If you feel like someone you know could be a good mentor to this program, please forward this request to the person. This is an open request.
We expect everything or at least one thing from you:
- Share blogs which can help people complete the challenge
- Review project and code.
- Further guide and write recommendations for participants.
- Take this as an opportunity to share your knowledge.
- Mentor folks to solve doubts and share good project ideas
- Give your favourite project/participant a shout out on your social media platform
- Review the participant’s blog, as many of these writers would be fresher.
- At the end of the challenge, every student who has completed 5 projects and 3 blogs would need two reviews. Please be ready to put those reviews in writing. As you would be guiding these students on their projects you'll have good material to write one.
https://t.me/teamtanay is the Telegram group you want to jump straight into action. There are too many messages so swim carefully! If you decide to join please give an intro and say that you have been invited by me to join as a mentor for the challenge. This is not expected from you though as it will take a toll on your personal time. However, I am sure the students will be happy to have you there.
there's another telegram group which will be for mentors, hiring partners, sponsors and volunteers. We can discuss strategy and make new friends here. There will be relatively less chatter here. Join this one. https://t.me/jobchallengeleaders
Life is a boomerang. What you give YOU GET –Anonymous
A mentor is a person or friend who guides a less experienced person by building trust and modeling positive behaviors. An effective mentor understands that his or her role is to be dependable, engaged, authentic, and tuned into the needs of the mentee
Perks of being a mentor would be one could share his knowledge and skills with the future developer and get a chance to learn mentorship.
Team Tanay is an open community of 20,000+ students from 50+ countries who all mainly focus on learning to become a full stack developer lead by me.
The community is open to every learning enthusiast who wants to learn and share with the community.
My journey in third person's point of view because let's face it that sounds way cooler: The journey started with a channel on Instagram led by Tanay Pratap, who focuses on sharing his knowledge and teach new coders completely free and also promote open source community. During a student’s college life, they don’t get proper guidance and resource so that they could build relevant skills and excel to get a good job. So Tanay started a free platform learncodingfree.org to teach and guide future engineers perform well and successfully build a good portfolio and at the end get employed.
Regards,
Tanay Pratap
P.S. Kanishk from our team will be helping you with navigating the challenge. He'll be following you on your social media handles and would be a bridge too in case you miss things on the telegram group. Kindly allow DMs from his handles.
