I'm not well educated on the rules revolving around copyright and copyright infringement, but here's what my policy will be on it anyway.
You cannot share my music on YouTube, Facebook, or any other social media platform without my permission. If for some reason I wrote a piece that you want to use in a YouTube video as background music or for commentary, let me know what the video is just in case the YouTube bot falsely flags your video. If you want to throw a counter claim, please DM me instead of sending a counter-claim. I do not want you to DOX yourself to me. This way, we can get it resolved as quickly as possible. If I allow the bot to claim/strike your video and you feel that your use of the music is protected under fair use laws, feel free to hit me up at [email protected].
- For Free Music: If you post my free music without my permission in a full video without using it in a transformative way (i.e. if you just re-upload it), I will copyright strike the video. I'm okay with you using it as background music or in some sort of montage, but it cannot be used on its own. If I release free music that is under some sort of Creative Commons Attributes license, you can ignore everything I said here and follow those rules instead. If I release music under CCA, it probably means I either don't care what happens to it or you are free to use it as you please under their guidelines.
- For Paid Music: If you post my paid music without my permission, I will copyright strike the video with no questions asked. The music is paid for a reason and I do not want it showing up in videos without me knowing first. All you have to do is ask, and depending on the situation I might let you use it in your video or project for free if you have already purchased it before.
